Remove swirl marks, light scratches, water spots, and oxidation with professional machine polishing. Every ceramic coating starts here — but correction is also available as a standalone service.
What Is Paint Correction?
Over time, your car's clear coat accumulates defects — swirl marks from improper washing, light scratches, water spot etching, and dullness from UV oxidation. These defects scatter light and rob your paint of depth and gloss.
Paint correction uses a machine polisher and a series of cutting and finishing compounds to safely remove a microscopic amount of clear coat, leveling the surface and eliminating the defects below it.
The result is paint that looks better than it has in years — often better than it looked when new. And if you're adding a ceramic coating, correct paint is the only foundation worth coating over.
Ceramic coating doesn't hide defects — it preserves them permanently. Applying a coating over uncorrected paint locks swirls and scratches in place for the life of the coating. Every JC Details ceramic coating package includes paint correction for exactly this reason.
The most common paint defect — caused by improper washing technique and automatic car washes.
Hard water etching and mineral deposits that dull the clear coat surface.
Corrected paint reflects light uniformly, producing a deep, wet-looking finish.
Correction Tiers
The right level of correction depends on the severity of defects in your paint. We inspect every vehicle before recommending a tier.
Paint correction works within the clear coat layer. Scratches that penetrate through the clear coat to the color coat or primer, and chips or cracks in the paint, cannot be corrected by polishing. These require touch-up paint or bodywork. We'll always be upfront about what is and isn't achievable during our pre-service inspection.
Our Process
Every correction service follows a structured process to ensure safe, effective results without removing more clear coat than necessary.
We assess defect severity under proper lighting to recommend the correct correction tier for your specific paint condition.
Full hand wash, clay bar, and iron fallout removal. A clean, decontaminated surface is essential before any machine polishing.
Panel-by-panel correction using the appropriate combination of machine, pad, and compound for your paint type and defect level.
Full inspection under multiple light sources to verify defect removal and surface uniformity before any protection is applied.
Take It Further
